The fourth "DEM and MatDEM technical training"

On November 18, the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering held the "Fourth Discrete Element Method and MatDEM Technical Training" and the first MatDEM Modeling Competition in Beijing.

The training was organized by Young Support Engineers from the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering, and Liu Chun, an associate professor of Nanjing University. More than 40 representatives from more than 20 units including Tsinghua University, Tongji University, China University of Geosciences, Chengdu University of Technology, and Beijing China Coal Mine Engineering Co., Ltd. participated in the training activities. Combined with the theme of “helping the construction of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and serving major national projects”, the training introduced discrete element numerical simulation of comprehensive large deformation, multi-field and fluid-solid coupling; MatDEM version 1.60 was released during the training, showing its secondary development and repackaging functions, which provides an efficient discrete element analysis sharing platform for experts in related fields to develop independent numerical software.
