Liu Chun participated in the academic activities of young scientists

On August 3rd to 5th, 2018, Associate Professor Liu Chun was invited to participate in the academic activities of the 2018 Strait Cross-Straits and Hong Kong and Macao Young Scientists - "Beijing-Tianjin-Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan" Energy Green Development and Low-carbon City Construction Forum. The conference held a wide-ranging academic discussion on the hot spots and difficult issues in the development of green energy and sustainable energy infrastructure in the “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei” economic belt, Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Dawan District.

This forum aims to promote the participation of young scientists from both sides of the Taiwan Straits, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan in the integration of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the “Belt and Road”, and to condense a group of guiding experts with profound academic prestige and rich engineering experience. It brings together a large number of comprehensive young talents with professional knowledge and expertise who can effectively promote Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation with the Mainland. In a free and relaxed environment, we will share new ideas, stimulate new thinking, and refine the key scientific issues of Beijing-Tianjin-Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan energy green development and low-carbon city construction.

In the meeting report, Associate Professor Liu Chun gave a report titled “Discussion on Multi-field Coupling Method Based on Discrete Element Method”. A large number of non-continuous, multi-field and multi-phase coupling problems are faced in modern large-scale engineering construction. The multi-field and multi-phase coupling method based on discrete element method is introduced in the report and its application in engineering field. After the report, the participants discussed the application of MatDEM in geotechnical engineering.
