MatDEM achieve all the matrix discrete element theory and speed up by 3 times

3D contact identification is one of the most critical problems in discontinuous numerical computation, and its computational complexity may reach 50 ~ 80% . How do you quickly find the particles that each of the one million particles in space might be in contact with, and update their contact relationships and properties as they move? Based on the original Matrix DEM algorithm, MatDEM 1.4 version realizes high-speed DEM contact determination and data migration. At this point, MatDEM achieves all the matrix discrete element theory. Compared to version 1.32, version 1.4 is 3.5 times faster in neighborhood search and 3 times faster in heap modeling. This version can significantly improve the speed of large deformation calculations (such as landslides) .

Note: MatDEM1.4 is a beta version that contains test attributes, please ignore attribute data not mentioned in the help file. The initial fluid-solid coupling module has been included in this release, and a new version of MatDEM will be released during the China Rock 2019 conference with examples of fluid-solid coupling .
