"Matrix Discrete Element Calculation Method" won the Silver Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions!

From March 10th to 14th, 2021 "Geneva International Invention Review Day" (formerly Geneva International Invention Exhibition) was held in Geneva, Switzerland through online review. MatDEM team’s "Matrix Discrete Element Calculation Method" won the silver award!

The "Matrix Discrete Element Calculation Method" realizes the complete matrix solution of the Discrete Element Method, improves the calculation efficiency and the number of effective units of the discrete element analysis of rock and soil by more than an order of magnitude, and solves the problems of slow calculation speed and low accuracy of conventional methods. It has realized engineering-scale large deformation failure and multi-field coupling numerical analysis, and has been applied to analysis of a series of geological and engineering problems such as landslide, land subsidence, sandstone failure, tunnel excavation and hydraulic fracturing.

The International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva was founded in 1973. It is an annual large-scale international exhibition sponsored by the Swiss Federal Government and the City of Geneva. It is also the world's longest and largest invention exhibition. As of 2021, 48 sessions have been successfully held.
