MatDEM won the "China Digital Simulation Independent Software Innovation Award"

From August 17th to 18th, 2019, at the 15th China CAE Engineering Analysis Technology Annual Meeting held in Shanghai (referred to as China CAE Annual Meeting), MatDEM of Nanjing University Earth Science and Engineering College won the "China Digital Simulation Independent Software" Innovation Award, which was jointly awarded by the Chinese Society of Mechanics and the Chinese Computer Society. Founded in 2005, China CAE Annual Meeting is the largest and most influential professional technology conference in China. In order to promote the successful experience of CAE technology to support product innovation, popularize the application of CAE technology, and commend enterprises and individuals who have contributed to the development of China's CAE industry for 15 years, this year's annual meeting set up the "China Digital Simulation Independent Software Innovation Award". Six companies and universities have won this award.

MatDEM was developed by Associate Professor Liu Chun, a professor of   geology engineering at the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Nanjing University, and the software is used for large-scale particle discrete element simulation analysis. After ten years of hard work, in May 2018, the high-performance discrete element software MatDEM was officially released at the Discrete Elementary Conference, co-sponsored by the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering and Nanjing University. Based on the original matrix discrete element calculation method and macro-micro-transformation theory, the software realizes the simulation of millions of units, and advances the discrete element numerical analysis from sample scale to engineering application; and greatly reduces the difficulty of discrete element modeling which promotes the rapid application of software. Over the past year, the software has been downloaded thousands of times from more than 30 countries and regions, and has been used more and more in the fields of geology, geotechnical, water conservancy, agriculture and physics (http://matdem.com). Relevant results have been published in JGR-Solid Earth and other international first-class SCI journals; obtained a number of national invention patents and software copyrights, had core technology and intellectual property rights.
