Xinhua Daily and Science and Technology Daily report MatDEM

[Reprinted from Xinhua Daily]

How to make a rock in a computer? I am afraid it is not easy. Because rocks and soils are made up and cemented by tiny particles, the number of particles is large and the nature is complex.

A software called “MatDEM” developed by Associate Professor Liu Chun, a professor of geology engineering at the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Nanjing University, solved this problem. The software he developed can calculate 15 million particle movements in one second on a single computer. By creating various materials such as rock in the calculation, a virtual physical world is established, which can provide solutions for geological disaster prevention and engineering design.

Recently, at the 15th China CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) Engineering Analysis Technology Annual Meeting held in Shanghai, this MatDEM software won the "China Digital Simulation Independent Software Innovation Award". Founded in 2005, China CAE Annual Meeting is the largest and most influential professional technology conference in China. The award recognizes companies and individuals who have contributed to the development of China's CAE industry
